During the 6th week, baby’s body becomes visible in form of a silhouette with a tiny heart. Weeks 7-10 are the most crucial weeks as human features start to appear. Some recognizable parts can be clearly identified during this time. Head, body, arms and legs can be clearly seen in the x-ray. Umbilical cord is also recognizable in the picture. Although, most important body parts develop during this time, they are different in proportion than a newborn.
The head is larger than body while the arms and legs are usually quite smaller. At the ninth wee, the baby is almost the size of a grape. The baby is also very active during this period but it is not felt until next 10 weeks.
By the 11-13 weeks, the baby proportions start to resemble with a newborn. The baby usually grows 3 inch in length during the 3rd week which is the sign of a tremendous growth patterns of first trimester.
