The 1st trimester is between one to three months of the pregnancy. This will be noticed in the first month if the mother or the woman misses her monthly period. There are also other signs apart from missing the monthly period such as morning sickness, nausea or carvings for particular foods. The skin color or skin tone of the mother may also change during this period. The skin will normally become lighter and radiant. The woman will also look more beautiful due to the changes in the skin will is occasioned by the hormonal variations in the body.
During this stage of the pregnancy the woman should avoid stress as this may lead to miscarriage; the woman should be given support of all the family members and even the colleagues. The woman will normally be emotionally unstable hence require a lot of understanding and support. The woman should also not engage in very difficult tasks or heavy duties during this period as she will normally be weak due to the psychological changes that are taking place in her body. The woman should be relieved of heavy household duties such as washing clothes or cooking large quantities of food as it requires a lot of strength. The woman should be assigned light tasks which will also help her body exercise but not tiring her too much.
The woman should also eat well balanced diets; this should include intake of large quantities of water and other fluids. The woman should take foods that are rich in protein and carbohydrates. The protein is essential for the growth of the unborn child.
The woman should also see a gynecologist regularly so that they can be able to check the mother’s health and the growth of the child so that any abnormalities can be detected early.
